The assassination of Charlie Kirk has many concerned about the political rhetoric at all levels of government – from the federal to the local level. Hudson has had its fair share of words intended to demonize political opponents. Two of the current candidates have inflamed the rhetoric during the ongoing Hudson Council campaigns. We have compiled screenshots of some of those statements.

An unfired cartridge found with the rifle that authorities said was used to kill Kirk was engraved with the words “Hey fascist! Catch!” This is a common label that it is used by both Amanda Weinstein and her husband State Senator Casey Weinstein to describe and demean political opponents.

As divisive as the political landscape has gotten at the federal level, it has become exhausting at the local level too. It is inescapable as people who deride others for having an opposing viewpoint are at times inescapable. The inflammatory rhetoric has crept into not just forums like the politically charged Roundtable, but also into smaller groups that aren’t political at all, such as groups for parents with children in the same grade. It is meant to demean and bully people into silence or getting into their line – and it must stop.

Immediately following Kirk’s assassination, Amanda Weinstein wasted no time reposting on Bluesky a comment calling Kirk a fascist. She also reposted a quote of Elizabeth Warren’s implying Trump’s language is to blame for Kirk’s murder.

There are plenty of other examples of Amanda Weinstein calling people who disagree with her fascists and similar words. As a longtime keyboard warrior, Weinstein has left plenty of receipts.

Samantha D’Eramo also called Hudson Council President Chris Foster a “dictator” on her Facebook page regarding an ordinance that would bring Hudson’s laws in line with state law regarding firearms. Her post also distorted the truth about the legislation. That legislation would prevent anyone with ill intent with knowing the exact security plan and therefore be able to circumvent it. But, D’Eramo was looking to score cheap political points by demeaning a sitting member of Council.

D’Eramo’s August 19th post coincides with an assault that occurred just hours later. Shortly before the City Council meeting that night, D’Eramo’s opponent Chris Banweg was assaulted as he was entering the City Council meeting that night. Her and her running mate’s inflammatory rhetoric certainly didn’t help. The assault also highlighted the need for the legislation she shared.

We’ve all encountered people in our lives who say one thing while doing another. That’s what Weinstein and D’Eramo are doing as they have made attempts to calm down the rhetoric while they are actually doing the opposite. Since both have been very active on social media, they have left plenty of other evidence of their hypocrisy and their divisiveness.

Amanda Weinstein’s husband, State Senator Casey Weinstein, is no stranger to this topic. There are too many examples of his hostile rhetoric to post here. This clearly runs in the family. Now, they want to bring that division to two fronts by getting Amanda a seat on Hudson Council. The examples below (and many more we have not included) are important, especially since Casey has taken such an active role in is wife, Samantha D’Eramo, and Kyle Brezovec’s campaigns.

Words matter. They are used to not only divide and demean political opponents. This language also bullies some people into staying quiet or they might be labeled too. The Weinsteins have a large political following. As we previously detailed, they both have a history of whipping up their online mob to dox those who speak up against him. This needs to stop.
