Weinstein Shaker

In the days leading up to the election, Amanda Weinstein’s desire for higher taxes and high density housing in Hudson were brought to light. The Weinsteins claimed it wasn’t true. Now, less that two weeks after Amanda’s win, Casey showed they are fine with Hudson turning into a Shaker Heights, a City with a much higher tax rate, crime rate, and high population density.

The City of Hudson posted on Facebook about the Council winners. Mark Pratt wrote “The transformation into Shaker Heights begins.” Using his official Senator page, Casey Weinstein asked “what’s wrong with Shaker Heights?” When the replies went sideways for Weinstein with people pointing out the higher crime rate, higher taxes, and issues with the schools, Weinstein deleted his comment. And now, he’s got a problem on his hands. Thankfully, there was a screenshot.

In deleting his comment, he violated the First Amendment rights to those who responded to him. There is a history of Senators being aware of the need to be respectful of constituent’s rights. In 2019, Ohio Senator Joe Uecker was sued by a constituent for violating a constituent’s First Amendment rights on Facebook. The result was a $20,000 settlement awarded to the constituent.

Now, there is nothing wrong with Shaker Heights, but it certainly is much different than Hudson During the election, this concern was brought up and the Weinsteins shot it down. Now that the results are in, Senator Weinstein is fine with the metamorphosis.
