Hudson Council’s removal of Nicole Kowalski’s censure has turned into a black eye for not only Council, but also for the embattled Kowalski who is trying desperately to separate herself from her actions on Hudson Council. This quid pro quo has not been well received by the Hudson community.

Kowalski, who was recently appointed Stow Clerk of Courts by the Summit Democratic Party, sued the City of Hudson to remove the censure when she was still on Council. She lost that case and the Summit County Common Pleas Judge sided with the previous Council and upheld the censure. Goetz and the other 5 Democrats currently serving on Hudson’s Council, completely disregarded the judge’s ruling.

Goetz clearly was reading notes or communicating with someone during the meeting. It was pre orchestrated. The public wasn’t made aware to speak out. Kowalski had such an embattled time on Council that she didn’t run for re-election. She couldn’t win. But, this censure is a political roadblock in her quest to retain the Clerk of Courts position. So Goetz and company removed it for her without notifying the public.

Hudson Council President Michael Bird said all censures are political. Once again Bird specializes in hypocrisy. trying to overturn a censure while someone is not on council, ignoring the facts and figures in front of you, ignoring the charter by pulling this pre-orchestrated stunt during Council comments is political.

Nicole Kowalski was censured for violating executive privilege. That means she shared information and/or documents with a person who was legally not supposed to have them. Just like Kowalski, Hudson Council majority believes the laws and ethics don’t apply to them. An ironic position for Kowalski who is Clerk of Courts.

It’s important to take a look at why they did this. Nicole Kowalski was involved in all 6 of their campaigns. She was named multiple times in all of their campaign finance reports. She was even described as their campaign manager. Quid pro quo. She also is an administrator for Patricia Goetz’s Council Facebook page. Clocktower Files previously did a public records request for the administrators on Goetz’s page since it appeared that multiple people were posting for her. Kowalski posts on Goetz’s behalf along with the other administrators. That’s why the post below says “Published by Nicole Kowalski.” Two of those screenshots are below to serve as proof of this conflict.

Video of Hudson Democratic Council’s violation of the charter is below.
