At last week’s Council Workshop, Amanda Weinstein signaled she wants the Canterbury Meadows vote moved to December. After the election. After Ward 2 voters have already decided whether appointed Councilman Dan White gets to keep the seat.
Canterbury Meadows is a wildly unpopular proposed development that was previously rejected by BZBA, Planning Commission, previous Council, and a judge. The City has won against this development at every turn. Then the developer found another way. He donated to Amanda Weinstein, Kyle Brezovec, and Samantha D’Eramo’s campaigns and (possibly illegal) campaigned to get them elected. This breathed new life into his development and set Council up for a Quid Pro Quo.

This is not a scheduling problem. Resolution 26-118 is on third reading tonight. The settlement agreement, the site plans, and the public-comment responses are already in the packet. The public hearing was September 15. Council forwarded it out of the September 22 workshop. The file is ready.
What is not ready is Dan White.
Rubber Stamp or Political Survival Vote: Dan White and Canterbury Meadows
White was appointed in December 2025 to the Ward 2 seat. Under the charter, that appointment only lasts until the voters fill the rest of the term. That election is November 3. Early voting started today. His opponent is Phil Trendell. A yes on a settlement residents are already threatening to sue over is a vote White would have to defend on the doors between now and Election Day. A delay until December means he never has to. Weinstein knows that. So does the rest of the bloc that took the developer’s help and is now advancing his deal. George Vizmeg and Prestige Builder Group lost at Planning Commission, lost at BZBA, lost at the previous council, and lost in court. Then Vizmeg donated to Amanda Weinstein, Samantha D’Eramo, and Kyle Brezovec and campaigned for them. The settlement came back. Planning Commission answered with a 5-1 vote of no confidence in Council.
White is the one member of that majority who can still be fired by the voters in four weeks. The far-left Democratic machine has already been in his Facebook comments, with Casey Weinstein, D’Eramo, and Katie Madio swinging at Trendell for asking questions. Protecting the seat is the point. Moving the vote past November 3 is how they do it.
Do not assume the delay is locked in. Tonight’s agenda does not postpone 26-118. Executive session starts at 6:30. The regular meeting starts at 7:30 at Town Hall. Council can take the third reading and vote. Or it can do what Weinstein floated at the workshop and kick the same settlement to December, after White is either reelected or gone.
Ward 2 should watch which one they pick. A vote tonight puts White on the record. A vote in December is an admission that they do not think he can survive the record.
