While Hudson Council is poised to make a decision in favor of the Canterbury Meadows development over the objections of residents, Dan White is going to be the one in the hot seat. White was appointed to the Ward 2 spot and has to run this November to retain his seat. With so many residents in an uproar, eyes are on White to see if he votes no on the widely unpopular settlement to save his political career or if he aligns with his allies and rubber stamps the development that has been denied repeated and even by a judge.
White posted on Facebook about the development. The comments didn’t go well for the recently appointed Councilor. State Senator Casey Weinstein, Councilwoman Samantha D’Eramo, and Vice President of the Hudson Democratic Club Katie Madio jumped in to defend White as he struggled to make a case.
White’s opponent, Phil Trendell, asked a question about Planning Commission. It’s also important to note that Trendell is White’s constituent and has every right to ask a question.
Senator Casey Weinstein, who is a repeated nominee for Biggest Troll by Cleveland.com’s Sloops Awards, accused Trendell of trolling because Trendell asked a question of his own Councilor. Weinstein was clearly flustered and had to edit his comments multiple times.
That didn’t work, so Weinstein challenged Trendell over missing meetings for the Tree Commission. Weinstein, who had an abysmal attendance record when he served on Hudson Council, probably isn’t the best messenger for this line of attack. Once again, Weinstein had to edit his comments.
Samantha D’Eramo used her official Council Facebook page to attemp to demean Trendell, who is also her constituent.
Katie Madio attempted to take a swing at Trendell because he has a campaign donation from former Council President Chris Foster. But, Madio’s nonsensical attack fell flat. Foster is a resident and is not attempting to make money off the City.
Meanwhile, Amanda Weinstein, Samantha D’Eramo, and Kyle Brezovec accepted campaign contributions from the Canterbury Meadows developer. The same development that is the subject of Councilor Dan White’s post.
The far left Democratic machine is running on all cylinders to protect Dan White from this very unpopular settlement that will transform Hudson. White will either need to vote no or they will have to postpone the vote until after the election to save his seat on Council.
