Hudson Planning Commission voted 5-1 for a resolution of no confidence in the currently seated City Council over its handling of Canterbury Meadows.
The development was rejected by Planning Commission, BZBA, and the previous Council. Developer George Vizmeg sued the City of Hudson. The judge sided with the City. Vizmeg then appealed. The new Council — which Vizmeg donated to and canvassed for with homemade flyers and without campaign finance disclosure — subsequently moved toward a settlement.
Council has repeatedly refused to comment on the settlement, which many residents do not support. Multiple lawyers have emailed Clocktower Files stating that Council is clearly violating the charter by disregarding Planning Commission and the Land Development Agreement. Councilor Amanda Weinstein told The Hudson Hub the City is settling to save taxpayer dollars on litigation, but that decision is likely to trigger a lawsuit from Hudson residents over alleged charter violations.
On September 14, Planning Commission demanded its own lawyer because the City Law Solicitor has a conflict of interest: he represents Council. That demand is part of the no-confidence vote below.
