After Casey Weinstein was caught funding and being involved with illegal Political Action Committee (PAC) Clocktower Collaborative, the outspoken politician is in crisis mode. Rather than acknowledging wrongdoings and apologizing, Weinstein is having a social media meltdown blaming everyone but himself.
Former City Manager Jane Howington’s planning emails for Clocktower Collaborative spelled out its nefarious and illegal goals. It was created to help their endorsed candidates. But they decided to shield their intentions by setting it up as a non-profit. This way the donors would be hidden from the transparency Ohio law requires with a local PAC. The emails state this mission and the Ohio Elections Commission recognized this and declared it an illegal PAC in a 6-1 bi-partisan vote.
Thanks to that decision, the names and amounts of the donors who wrote checks are now public record, similar to a campaign finance report if it had operated legally. Hudson Councilman Skylar Sutton posted the names of the donors on his Facebook page so others would know who was funding the illegal PAC. Hopefully, the transparency prevents them and others from doing this again.
Since Weinstein was one of the funders and many of his key allies are also Clocktower donors, he is in extreme spin mode. He has been posting on multiple social media pages and platforms. But, a post on his own page is particularly hypocritical.
Weinstein and his wife Amanda have encouraged the doxxing of those who have spoken out against him. So, it’s laughable for Weinstein to claim Skylar Sutton is doxxing by posting the names of the Clocktower Collaborative donors when it is all public record. An elected official can turn off comments on his social media account as long as debate has not begun. This is another ridiculous point for the State Senator to make given that he is well known for deleting posts and constituent comments.
Weinstein is distracting, deflecting, and distorting the truth. He even dismisses the situation as the illegal PAC only forgot to file a missing piece of paperwork. It was much more than that. As the OEC stated, this was “deliberate.”

What he says next defies logic – literally.
Weinstein claims last week’s Ohio Elections Commission ruling that Clocktower Collaborative is an illegal PAC was politically motivated to tank his wife’s Hudson City Council campaign. Weinstein obviously believes in time travel as the complaint was filed a year and a half ago. The preliminary hearing was over a year ago and the full hearing was scheduled well before Amanda Weinstein announced she is running for Council. Time travel is his latest excuse for his involvement with an illegal PAC.

Instead of taking responsibility for his actions, Weinstein blames everyone else. Crisis Management 101 is to stop talking, but he keeps posting and blaming. People are tired of politicians believing they are above the law.
He likes to applaud what he calls “consequence culture” and that’s what he is facing right now.
